A new cultural collaboration has begun with the schools of Upper Hutt. After discovering the interest and success of Diwali in local schools last year, UHMCC has put together a calendar of events that together would give all communities in Upper Hutt at least one chance to celebrate and share their culture with their peers.

"It is such a privilege for Upper Hutt Multicultural Council to be welcomed by and connected to schools in the Hutt Valley," says UHMCC President Pancha Narayanan. "Upper Hutt has been the birthplace of many transformative
leaders and movements. It is our hope that the success of
this programme can be shared throughout the country."

The calendar contains several significant cultural occasions that occur throughout the year, and suggestions on how to celebrate them in a school environment. UHMCC looks forward to many dynamic, creative and educational experiences with the tamariki and rangatahi of Upper Hutt.
