When you think of the Christmas/holiday season - you might think of good food, time off work, time with family and loved ones, and days in the sun (for those living in the Southern Hemisphere)! December 1st marks the beginning of most people’s countdown to Christmas (and the beginning day of most advent calendars!) - and UHMCC was truly lucky to kick off the Happy Holiday season with the annual Upper Hutt City Council Santa Parade. Year and year again, we are brought back to the parade with big smiles on our faces and eagerness for the time to come, then always looking forward to next year's one. UHMCC once again hosted a ‘Multicultural Float’ - amassing members of the Luo, Chinese-Malay, Cambodian, Laos, Chinese and Indian communities. Colourful and beautiful, the float represented just how multicultural Aotearoa is!
Afterwards, we were lucky enough to treat our participants with some kai for their amazing performance down Upper Hutt’s main street. We look forward to seeing you all next year! If you, or anyone you know might be interested please reach out to us and get involved! The more the merrier
P.S. Happy holidays to you all, even if you don’t celebrate Christmas! UHMCC wishes you a lovely time off and time to do what you love and spend it with those you care about.
