Entries are now open for the Race Unity Speech Awards (RUSA) 2026!

This year’s theme, Whakarongo Kia Mārama – Listening to Understand, invites students to reflect on the power of genuine listening in building unity across diverse communities in Aotearoa New Zealand. In a world where many voices compete to be heard, listening with empathy and openness can create meaningful change.

👩🏽‍🎓 Who Can Enter?

Students in Years 11, 12 and 13 from across New Zealand.

📅 Key Dates

  • Entries Close: 6 March 2026

  • Regional Heats: 23–28 March 2026 (15 locations nationwide)

  • National Semi-Finals & Final: 9–10 May 2026 in Auckland

🏆 Awards

  • National Champion: $2,000 (shared equally between the student and their school)

  • All Other Finalists: Equal share of the $4,000 prize pool
